The Lessons
As soon as you sign up, your child will receive instant access to all of the existing projects. Each one includes step-by-step video lessons, printable guides, and sketchbook prompts. The projects are themed and change every month. Every lesson is linked to an artist, the elements of art and an art-based skill.
The monthly projects are designed to build real art skills while keeping things fun. Your child gets to explore exciting techniques and a variety of artists, all while creating artwork they’ll be proud of.
At the beginning of each month, a new themed project is added. Your child can follow along at their own pace, rewatch videos whenever they like, and even send in their work for friendly feedback from Jo.
The projects are complemented by an area of the membership named 'Essential Skills.' This is part of your membership, providing an ongoing library of resources and art skill-building opportunities.
Yes, I offer a free trial for the first 10 days of the membership for first-time students. Sign up for the trial and get instant access to all available lessons. After 10 days, you will be automatically charged £17.99 unless you cancel. Here's the link to the Sign Up Page
Purchase a monthly online membership, receive your login details and get started. You can access the memberships site from the main website, www.artsinstruct.com, by clicking on 'Login.'
You can access Arts Instruct content as many times as you wish as long as you are an active member. The lessons won't expire, and as the content grows, you'll have access to an exciting content library. If you decide to cancel your membership, once that month has expired, you'll no longer have access to the members' area of the website.
Lessons are created for students around the ages of 11-14, with built-in flexibility, to match different skill levels. Each lesson includes guidance tailored to help every young artist grow at their own pace.
Don’t miss the Essential Skills section in the lesson area. These short, easy-to-follow videos are perfect for picking up key techniques like tracing or using the grid method. You can watch them any time, and some lessons might suggest checking out a specific skill video before diving in. Don't forget you can try the membership for free for 10 days to see if it's suitable.
New content is released at the beginning of every month. Every lesson has a full description and a materials list so that you can prepare for the month.
I provide a comprehensive list of materials needed for each lesson. Wherever possible, I try to use materials that are free, cost-effective and/or easily available. I love recycling materials found at home. There is a broad range of lessons with a choice of different materials, but most lessons can be completed with drawing pencils and something to add colour. Throughout the projects, I will give you hints and tips on how to save money on art materials. I love it when my students find their own alternatives!
Lessons are designed to be viewed via the website. Members are not able to download the episodes.
The Creative Circle is a monthly drop-in session exclusively for Arts Instruct members. It’s a live, interactive space where students aged 11-14 can:
Share their artwork in a supportive environment.
Receive constructive feedback to help them grow as artists.
Connect with peers who share their passion for creativity.
These sessions are designed to inspire and encourage young artists, helping them gain confidence and refine their skills. The Creative Circle is offered as part of your membership and is an exciting addition to Arts Instruct. The Calendar and booking options are available once you take out a membership. There is no requirement to participate, and your child can attend as many or as few as desired. It is essential to book using the online calendar within the membership.

As the membership grows, students will be able to display their art in a virtual classroom and exhibition space through Artsonia. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate their progress and share their work with family and friends. I will also encourage students to submit their work to be featured on my website and social media.
