Why I Created Arts Instruct

Hi, I'm Jo.

As a secondary art teacher, I've seen this happen time and time again. The problem isn't that children aren't creative. It's that many begin to believe creativity is something you're either born with or you aren't.

Through carefully structured projects, encouraging teaching, and real artistic techniques, I help young people discover that creativity grows through practice, curiosity and confidence, not perfection!

What materials do we need?

I keep it simple! Standard drawing pencils, a quality sketchbook, and basic sets of coloured pencils, primary-colour acrylics and watercolours that you likely already have at home. I never require expensive specialist materials. I encourage you to put together a box of recyclable materials from bits you have at home, and where possible I'll try to suggest alternatives. There's a full materials list, inside the membership.

How does the 10-Day Free Trial work?

You get full access to all lessons the moment you sign up. If you decide it's not a fit for your child, simply click 'Cancel' in your account settings within 10 days, and you will not be charged.

Do we need to show up at a specific time?

No. All lessons are pre-recorded video tutorials, allowing your tween/teen to watch, pause, and create whenever it fits into your family's busy schedule. The projects are designed to be completed over a number of sessions.

How are the projects best viewed?

It's recommended to watch the projects on a PC, laptop or a screen larger than a phone. The lessons are not optimised for phone screens.
